Outreach to Community

Pittsburgh Interfaith Impact Network (PIIN) is a network of congregations and organizations in Southwestern Pennsylvania committed to drawing together people of faith to act powerfully on local and regional issues of justice and fairness through the process of community-building, direct action, and negotiation with decision makers.  Bidwell Church works with PIIN as a member church in the community.

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, Presbyterian Women have as their purpose to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study; to support the mission of the church worldwide; to work for justice and peace; and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church USA and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom.

Presbyterian Men work inside and outside of the church to lead men into a vital relationship to Jesus Christ; develop their understanding of the mission of the Church; encourage them through their commitment to Christ; fulfill the ministry to which men are called in their homes, in their church; in their daily work, and in the community and the world; and involve men of various racial/ethnic backgrounds and men of all ages.

Girl Scouts of the USA is the world's pre-eminent organization dedicated solely to girls — all girls — where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, Girl Scouts cultivate their full individual potential. The qualities they develop in Girl Scouting — leadership, values, social conscience, and conviction about their own self-worth — serve them all their lives.

Bidwell Church sponsors Boy Scout Troop #281 and Cub Scout Pack. The troop meets weekly and welcomes boys from all areas of the city, whether they are members of the church or not. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

We celebrate our partnership with the Synod of Blantyre of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (C.C.A.P.) in Malawi, Africa
